What is a Practitioner?
Practitioners are licensed Religious Science individuals who have gone through 4 years of training to give
New Thought Center for Spiritual Living practitioners
Practitioners are available to you in the following ways:
• Prayer support before and after Sunday Services.
• Responding to your written, email and phone prayer requests.
• Holding the High Watch during service and at special events.
• All of the above services are provided as a gift to our spiritual community.
Practitioners are also available for individual spiritual support sessions on a fee basis. A session with a Spiritual Practitioner provides a safe, nurturing environment for you to explore your spiritual practices and current beliefs that you would like to change. You are provided with the opportunity to co-create a “new” thought in your life that allows you to change your thinking and change your life!
Change your thinking, change your life. These words resonated with Ruth when she first started attending the Center for Spiritual Living in Seattle in the early 1990s. She started taking courses: Foundations, Beyond Limits, Roots, Self-Mastery, Spiritual Practice, Financial Freedom and more.
Karen King has been an active member of both Unity and Science of Mind groups for over 30 years. A little more than halfway through her life, she discovered New Thought, thinking “Oh, here’s something I could live with.” After several years as a Prayer Associate in Silent Unity, a Licensed Unity Teacher and Marketing Publicist for Unity Books (during which book sales increased by 33%), Karen moved to Tucson, Arizona as a Licensed Unity Teacher. After a speaking engagement at what eventually became the Center for Spiritual Living Tucson, Karen joined the Center and served for 3 years as a board member and 6 years as a Religious Science of Mind Practitioner (RScP). Over a year ago, she moved her Practitioner license to the Sonoran Desert Center for Spiritual Living in Amado, Arizona, to free up more time for travel and speaking engagements. Karen’s purpose in life is to inspire and to help seekers find Joy as they move forward on their spiritual journey.

15 years ago I found the Sonoran Desert Center for spiritual living and felt as though I was finally home.
Six years ago, under the guidance and teaching of our wonderful minister, Reverend Donna Maurer, I became a licensed practitioner for our Center. It has been my joy to serve our congregation in ways that nurture the hearts and minds of all. I am so grateful for this calling.

I am a seeker. I have been searching for Joy for as long as I can remember. I also want to find the Truth.
There was a lot of confusion in my formative years along with a lack of Joy. I didn’t even know what it was called when I was 10, but I knew I wanted and needed something different than the way things were. It took me several re-location maneuvers to discover it is not where you are but who you are. I wanted to be ‘good’ yet there was just so much ‘bad’ around me. Faith never eluded me more than a minute or two here and there, as I had experienced an encounter with Spirit around this time so I knew Joy was real. I read Emerson when I was especially lost and found the Truth. I held onto the snippets of Truth I would find here and there, waiting for the awakening.
Early 2005 I found a Science of Mind Center in Southern Arizona. This began my continuing effort to live in Joy. I listened, I learned, I volunteered, I studied…and now I am a practitioner. I love to facilitate classes, as I need to study to teach. (I prefer the term facilitate, as I am also a student of yours) I became a licensed professional practitioner in 2012 and have served my Center from the day I first arrived.
Life is meant to be full of Joy. My task then is to uncover all the blocks to my experience of Joy.
Life does not have to be complicated. We make it so for a variety of reasons, some unconscious. Let us now get back to the basics of living life from the attributes of Spirit, our gift of Life, such as Abundance, Joy, Love, Balance, Wholeness, Peace……..and anything good. Everything is good, we just need to eliminate the garbage that has piled up and skewed our perception. The change will happen when the intention is set and held up with feeling, belief, and attention.
I am available for sessions where we can explore your blocks to fulfillment and a Joy filled life. In the one hour session we will explore some patterns and beliefs, make a choice to change, create a plan of action, and then enter into affirmative prayer. One session can have a seriously good impact on your life. Just ask others who have experienced this Joy.
Let’s claim our good now. I stand for JOY!
